About BCS Examination (বিসিএস পরীক্ষা)
The Bangladesh Civil Service Examination is shortly called BCS Exam. It is the top most competitive examination in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) conducted BCS examination to recruit various Bangladesh Civil Service cadres. Generally BCS exam is held in three phases. At first all candidates have to appear in the Preliminary Exam. Applicants who pass in the Preliminary Exam, they have to sit for written exam. Successful candidates have to face Viva Voce (Interview).
Eligibility: To attend BCS exam, applicants must have minimum a bachelor honors degree in any discipline. Candidates Age must be 21 to 30 years for general candidates and maximum 32 years for freedom fighters and their sons daughters, disable candidate and BCS (Health) cadre candidates
Application Procedure: Interested and eligible candidates have to apply through BPSC website http://bpsc.teletalk.com.bd. After successfully filling online application, applicants will get a USER ID. Through this USER ID, candidates have to pay exam fees. BCS exam fees have to pay within 72 hours after completing online application. For online application, applicants have to upload a 300*300 pixels photo and 300*80 pixels signature. Photo size must be below than 100KB and signature must be below than 60KB. Application fees have to be paid through teletalk prepaid mobile phone. Application fees is Tk700 for General and Tk100 for tribal and handicap candidates. BCS Examination (বিসিএস পরীক্ষা) Syllabus
Preliminary Examination: BCS MCQ type preliminary examination is held on 200 marks and time duration is 2 hours. The marks include Bengali – 35, English – 35, General Knowledge on Bangladesh & International Affairs – 50, General Science and computer – 30, Mathematical Reasoning and Mental Ability – 30, ethics and good governance -10, geography-10. The candidate will get one mark for correct answer while half mark (.50) will be deducted for wrong answer of each question.
BCS Written Syllabus: Candidates, who qualify in the preliminary test, have to sit for written test. Written examination is the main test. There are nine compulsory subjects and seven compulsory subjects and two post related subjects in the written test.
General Cadre:
General Bengali (Part I & II)= 200 Marks
General English (Part I & II)= 200 Marks
Bangladesh Affairs (Part I & II)= 200 Marks
International Affairs= 100 Marks
Mathematical Reasoning and Mental Ability= 100 Marks
General Science and Technology= 100 Marks
Technical Cadre:
General Bengali (Part I )= 100 Marks
General English (Part I & II)= 200 Marks
Bangladesh Affairs (Part I & II)= 200 Marks
International Affairs= 100 Marks
Mathematical Reasoning and Mental Ability= 100 Marks
Two papers for post related subject= 200 Marks
Viva Voce: Candidates who pass the written examination have to face the interview commonly known as viva voce. Viva voce (interview) marks is 200.
